Analysis

Google rocked the tech world yesterday with its press release publicizing its intention to go head to head with Microsoft and release its own operating system, Chrome, independent of Windows or MAC. Meant for netbooks and laptops, it is expected to hit the market late 2010. Security also seems to be a top priority.
The fact that chrome OS, like the chrome browser will be open source should be exciting for open source communities. Google is designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and browse the web in a few seconds.
