Google Expanding Its Position as the Biggest "Internet Landlord"
2. Adds more "types of Internet real estate", furthering future advertising opportunities.
Analysis: The analysis is simple. Google is superbly keen in having built a dominant position in one major type of "Internet real estate" -- that's search, and has done an incredible job in monetizing it.
It continues to build positions in other types of Internet real estate. Display/banner ads are coming.
Combining its powerful and fun brand name recognized worldwide, it will leverage its new "real estate" types to eventually attract new and some existing advertisers to open and allocate some of their budget their way in addition to search-related ads.
This gives offline/traditional ad channels even more to worry about over time. Google is a force that looks unstoppable.
