Godrej is a safe bet

Implications: Godrej Industries, is a highly diversified $1.87 billion conglomerate. Godrej Cosumer Products, also has a sales volume, of over $1.1billion and operates in various CPG/FMCG categories in a 7-8% growth market in India. Godrej's varied and disparate businesses, operate in a market catering to India's growing middle-class, of nearly 250 million newly affluent consumers.
Analysis: Godrej Industries, is India's largest manufacturer of oleochemicals and over 110 chemicals used in 25 plus varied industries, such as edible oils, vegetable oils, bakery fats and soap raw-materials. It also has major Real Estate division.
This company was called Godrej Soaps Ltd. until March 2001. The Consumer Products Division, was de-merged into Godrej Consumer Products and the residual Godrej Soaps business was then incorporated into Godrej Industries Ltd.
Two separate major entities were created:1)Godrej Industries and
2)Godrej Consumer Products.
It is the second largest Parsi-owned company after Tata Industries, and Parsis like Ratan Tata (Cornell educated) and Adi Godrej (MIT educated) are internationally famous executives for their honesty, integrity and reliability. Godrej, is globally known for its labor reforms, philanthropy and strong core values of fair, transparent and ethical dealings at all levels.
Godrej Industries has two major divisions Chemicals and Vegoils.
