Studies Find Genetic Link to Smoking | www.nytimes.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: Gene driven nicotine receptors will predispose to increased smoking. What will this lead to?? Increased addiction due to mutations increases cancer risk.
Analysis: If smokers are found to harbor this mutation perhaps altering the sites can decrease smoking and thus decrease the risk?
Again this is a reflection of the value of gene mutation detection, and as the tests in this and other malignancies become available they will have a commercial impact.
