Summary

GM should consider all possible options to help it get electric cars mainstreamed into it's product mix.  If a deal can be struck with Tesla it could only benefit both parties.   GM would gain the benefit of an up-and-running powertrain and Tesla could use GM's expertise for a lower cost sedan.  Currently Tesla is using a Lotus developed platform from their Elise roadster.  In the future they may consider using the Stolcise/Sky platform for their high end roadster thus crating economies of scale.  They could then look into GM's part's bin to find the low weight lower cost sedan platform.   This could be a win/win for both companies and more importantly, the consumer.

Analysis

This is simply a win/win for both companies and the consumer.
