Implications: The reality that the actual details of the ENHANCE have not been circulated and that alternate explanations or caveats may be raised is probably unimportant.   The bottom line carries the day and the bottom line is that the trial's title, ENHANCE, was not achieved by the addition of VYTORIN when compared to not only a similarly tolerated drug, SIMVASTATIN, but one that is now generic, to boot! There will be much talk, much debate, and science discussed in the next few months, but the investment community will do the same that many physicians will do.  They will switch to either simvastatin or one of the other statins that are as well tolerated and which will be marketed aggressively by their companies.   Merck and Schering Plough have provided a golden opportunity and alas, exciting data for their representatives to discuss with physicians.
