Implications: The iPods sales have been slipping and the product needs a major refresh. A change in the chip supplier indicates something is a foot to change the entire iPod line.

Analysis: iPod sales have been slipping, nothing new other than a different color has been brought out to stem the sales slide. After all almost everyone owns an iPod. Apple like to bring this type of product to market in the late fall for the holiday season. Now the word that the primary chip maker has been replaced, it also means that the iPod is going to have a major upgrade this fall.

Apple needs this upgrade to spark new sales of this product line. It now looks like we are going to get that spark.
