Summary

- Ford's product line is well positioned for current demand - Next generation product/technology platforms are industry leading - Understands how to be profitable selling hybrid vehicles

Analysis

Ford is well positioned today and the next few years to further increase its US market share as GM and Chrysler reorganize and work out new products and distribution systems.

The Ford Focus Hybrid is a well engineered vehicle, performs very well and sells at a competitive price. Additionally, every time an auto manufacturer launches a new vehicle, ther are many learnings and teachings that are applied to the next generation platform.

With the advent of Lithium Ion batteries in 2010 vehicles, Ford is positioned to improve current Hybrid Vehicles and launch more, next generation products faster than the competition.

On the conventional side, Ford currently has a better situation with active factories both from a current production perspective as well as a variable perspective (the ability to switch a factory to a new product line.)
