Ceragenix Epiceram product has good potential to be effective in eczema and other skin conditions
1. Barrier repair has been found to be antiinflammatory.
2. The product in mouse studies has effects comparable to steroid creams.
3. The product will have less/ minimal side effects compared to the steroid creams, with a lower potential for rebound flares and resistance.
4. Other products can be compounded into it to increase efficacy and repair the barrier. Topical psoriasis products would be the obvious choice for Epiceram.
Analysis:
Ceragenix’s new product Epiceram, the barrier repair cream should be as effective as low strength topical steroids, without many of the side effects such as rebound, thinning, etc. It can also be used with the steroids, and be used as a vehicle base for other compounds. There will be great public and physician acceptance if the trial results are positive!
