Summary

How can they capitalize on the award outside of the reduction in operating costs for their fleet?
They may wish to actually tell someone about it.  A quick search of news articles on the award shows that no public articles have appeared to date.  This would be like telling everyone in your fraternity your best qualities and somehow expecting them to send a date your way for Friday night.  That will not get the job done.
You actually have to visit the Sorority across the road.

Analysis

First, Georgia Pacific is to be commended on the effort required to achieve this award.  A group of individuals within their organization had a great deal of tenacity to follow through on the steps listed in the article and pursue the certification and award.
Beyond, internal savings and possible tax advantages, what can this award generate?  How about leveraging the new award as a position with new clients wishing to expand their own green efforts via association?  How many companies (Whole Food Markets, Mariah Wind Turbines, etc) could leverage transporting their green products via a federally recognized green transportation provider?
Most companies face the requirement to obtain certifications regardless of what they do. Digna Corp as a federal contractor, was faced with new requirements from Homeland Security to safe guard the security of facilities where they provide services.  They chose to participate in the IMAGE program.  However, once they completed the requirements of the program and became an IMAGE member company, they made sure to use it with all of our potential clients (federal or not) as a point of leverage.  Now all of their clients know that anyone on their job site is there legally, which is a huge competitive advantage.
Do not let the award sit there and do not advertise it within your industry (trade magazines).  Let potential new clients know about the award and how it can add to their experience.
