CASINO EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE SHELTERED FROM ALL TYPES OF ABUSE

Implications: If the allegations by Nancy Kerry is fact ( a former employee of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California) it's a real slap in the face for all employees of this tribe. It certainly could have a bad face on customer relation. If true, why would the tribe even consider this type of behavior? It's hard to understand........

Analysis: There is always two sides to a story - maybe just a disgruntled employee - Mad because she was let go from her position after just a short period of employment. If, in fact, the allegations are true and there was discrimination because of race, then the tribe must go back in history and remember their heritage. It seems that the worm might have turned. In no way should the Tribal Council of the Washoe Tribe condone this type of behavior by their staff members. The property concerned should have stood up immediately after the accusation was leveled and voiced real outrage that this could have transpired. It should have never gone as far as a litigation.

The affect of a court procedure, if won or lost by the tribe, can only hurt. I don't think that their main source of income is from other Native Americans. It more likely that their clientele is white, Latin and other ethnic backgrounds. It will be a hard pill to swallow should they have to answer to the surrounding community that supports their casino. It would be my thought that management should have stepped up to the plate, regardless, if guilty or not. The employees and the community need to know what is being done to resolve this unfortunate incident. With business in a short fall down turn, they certainly don't need derogatory information making their marketing policy.

This problem needs to be resolved as soon as possible - neither the fired employee, the community or the tribe should allow this to get out of hand. It's an internal matter, but could have serious consequences to all concerned. It just my opinion, however, any type of harassment should not be tolerated..... By either side............
