In Brazil, the application of vinyl in windows is still limited, but there is a trend towards expansion. According to estimates by Bahiense, vinyl already represents 2% of this market. The number seems small, but can be considered significant when accounting for the fact that the first large vinyl factory in Brazil began operations 10 years ago and that, initially, use of the resin was directed mainly to the pipes and fittings segment vinyl participation in this segment is almost 50%.
In fact, the two major vinyl resins producers in Brazil are preparing to launch new production lines, as well as the possibility of an increase in demand, Tigre, the Latin American leader in the production of vinyl pipes and fittings, announced a few days ago the creation of a joint venture with the North American company ADS, for producing corrugated pipes for the infrastructure, mining and irrigation markets.
So despite of global financial crisis, Latin America construction industries continues in a high performance to expand their operations with a well defined growing policies in short a medium term.
