Summary

Everyone is aware that the economy is not where we want it to be as far as consumer confidence is concerned. Most companies got too comfortable with the economy of the past. Most companies stayed the same while the country was changing around them

Analysis

As I have commented before, everywhere you look, there is another concept popping up on every corner.  This industry is so over cannibalized it is ridiculous.

Most companies that are smart, are growing their brand through Franchising as it focuses on current unit growth and saves them a ton of money.

Some of the more expensive concepts like Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Changs, have to look at their menu prices and find a way to market their brand with competitive menu items and attract more customers.

QSR concepts like McDonalds and Burger King have done extremely well with their value pricing.  It appears their are a lot of people that prefer value over a more healthy alternative.
