Apple level playing field - not in 3rd party development

Analysis of: Mozilla to Apple: Show Your Hand | www.internetnews.com

Analysis By:
Joe Weingarten
Executive Director, Macintosh Reseller Association
Implications: In a rare outburst a software developer came out and said what everyone in the industry already knows, Apple does not believe in a level playing field and keeps to itself important information to slow down and even stop outside development.

Analysis: What Apple is doing is not illegal but as I have stated before its part of the cradle to grave control that the company wants including total control of content. Its also part of the their concept of revenue sharing in all aspects of the Apple eco-system.

They want everyone who owns a Mac to use Safari and not use anything else. Firefox is something else. For each user on Firefox its one less revenue part of Safari advertising revenue income.

In the long run Apple will loss more and more of the outside community in development and the old concept of “think different” will be “think apple only.”
