Summary
Seems more of a public relations piece than an article to analyze
Analysis
Property services has different connotations to different audiences. This particular firm (part of international bank BNP) as a primarily European provider of services including (per web site) - development, transaction, consulting, valuation, investment management, property management and property development certainly has the expertise and history to be a leading provider of selected services.
But, the majority of such services are dependent upon both human and financial capital, not just financial as the article suggests. It is the human capital with respective contacts, expertise and experience that ultimately shape such organizations and their respective abilities to penetrate marketplaces.
The author's suggestion of consolidation due to financial pressures is a touch ironic given the current banking environment, the BNP/Fortis saga etc., and over time we shall see the potential affect upon the author's organization.
They are some other global leaders not dependent upon a parent banking organization who may just be positioned to continue and ultimately thrive without consolidation. And if there shall be consolidation as the article suggests, it will be human capital that ultimately determines same by which organizations they join. Financial strength is a given.
