Analysis
When it concerns health, it is not the savings that matter but the quality. Digitalizing health records is a very laudable step but at the same time care should be taken to ensure there is no room for manipulation.
Any idea on the drawing board has pros and cons. But what should matter is the ease and convenience. For example consider banking nowadays. One can draw money, from an ATM from their account not only from within the country but anywhere in the world as well.Fifty years ago the idea would have been scoffed at.
Computerising records would go a long way in reducing costs and hassles. This in turn would reduce healthcare costs which in turn means reduction in health insurance premiums. Reduction in premiums would make it attractive for uninsured to enter health insurance. Then this would make health insurance sector an attractive investment. But in five years time.If computerisation is handled securely and professionally and all attendant issues such as trained manpower, resources etc., have been addressed then it will work like an ATM.
Then, insert your health card and at the press of a key/button get your AHR-Automated Health Record! Sounds good.
