Implications: This large phase 3 trial for Alitretinoin results are significant in the this would be the first oral agent specifically for resistant hand dermatitis. the results are positive with good significance. The major problem will be getting the FDA  to accept the drug without the onerous pregnancy prevention programs associated with other retinoids like Accutane, etc. This is why the trial was done in Europe, and not in the US!!

Analysis: It will compare well, in that it has good results, and most patients prefer to take an oral agent, rather than applying a topical agent. The major hurdle will be to get the FDA to approve the drug without the pregnancy prevention program associated with other retinoids.
