I would agree with the prior author that Fexmid offers few advantages over generic flexeril (though I have found that 10 mg every 8 hours is often to strong for many patients, while 5 mg every 8 hours is ineffective). Xodol (hydrocodone/apap) is the lowest tylenol containing product containing hydrocodone. New data does show that taking greater than 1500 mg of tylenol on a chronic basis (defined as ONLY TWO WEEKS) can cause toxicity to the liver. Thus, Xodol does offer some advantages.I disagree, however, that Naprelan offers little more than a higher copay. There is clear data that Naprelan does not cause the GI irritation that generic Naproxen does. From a cardiac safety standpoint Naproxen is one of the best. Thus, we have a product that offers cardiac safety and GI protection, this represents a major improvement over other products. The company does offer coupons that bring a script down to a $30 copay, thus making it affordable for many patients.
