Acne scarring an under treated condition
Analysis of:
Treatment of Acne Scarring | www.medscape.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: This article is a good summary of the currently available techniques of excision, subcision, and resurfacing. It does not mention dermal grafting, a technique that I personally use quite often. The maximum correction that one can achieve is 50-70% with a combination of multiple techniques.
Analysis: There is a large market to treat acne scarring. the current fillers do not do a great job of correcting the scars permanently. There is great need for a permanent method of elevation of scars.
I personally use dermal grafting, subcision, excision, and laser resurfacing to improve the apperance of scars by 50-70%, with multiple modalities.
