Analysis
Another DPP-4 inhibitor. This would be number 2. To gain use and/or formulary, Takeda would need to show superior efficacy or some other advantage. I doubt there would be head to head trials with Januvia. This extra time to do further safety studies may be the help Takeda will need to show extra work in this area. These days, so many things show up with post market use that many are skeptical of new drugs. This will also provide another two years to see if anything occurs with Januvia. I guess the Takeda folks are not pleased with this, but it may be a blessing in disguise.
