Well, here we are again. The jewelry industry has always been very staid, but i guess that some people have to stay with the trends. Tiffany may try to gain as much free publicity as possible by being politically correct as they want, but this will not change the true facts. What about all of the Burmese Rubies already in the US, or about the Thailand or Vietman Rubies available. Consider the fact that most of the Burmese ruby mines are worked out as well. All of this is a ploy to make people think that Tiffany's is taking a stand against the regime that rules the country once called Burma. This political stand and feel good bill will have zero effect on the selling of rubies. Tiffany pulled the same stunt awhile back with another gemstone producing country to gain free publicity as well. Mix Burmese rubines into a batch of Thai or Viet rubies and see how many jewelers can tell the difference.
