Summary

The web is great for aggregating national news but does not address local needs the way newspapers used to. Operative words are "used to" as the universe of newspapers is rapidly shrinking.

Analysis

Local TV and Radio is well poised to serve the needs of listeners and viewers locally. Advertisers have embraced these mediums since the beginning of time and will be back sooner rather than later. While newspapers have been late to the party with electronic editions, the broadcast folks are well poised to pick up the slack and satisfy the hunger for local news and information in their communities. Factor in mobile and HD and both TV and radio will continue to maintain viewership/listenership and regain lost revenue through advertising.
