Definition: Commoditized Product

When the average production quality of a product exceeds the average customer quality expectation, that product has been commoditized. Price and timing are the factors controlling the purchase decision. As in most printed products today, the 'quality' of the printed piece is expected to be good enough so that remote purchasing of printed materials is possible.
