Definition: Co-Tenant/Co-Tenancy Clause

A Co-Tenant is usually any Anchor Tenant whose presence in a shopping center is important enough to attract other premium rent-paying Tenants. Co-Tenancy Clauses are clauses in shopping center leases that provide for certain rights or penalties (typically early cancellation or rent reductions) in the event any named Co-Tenant closes its store.
