Electrophysiology is the study, diagnosis, and treatment of arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) typically performed by physicians trained in this subspecialty (electrophysiologists). Treatment can consist of medications, ablation procedures, or implantable cardiac devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs).
