The reception of wideband communications signals relayed via satellite(s) require Earth terminals. These terminals use steerable antennas to track and collect and transmit data to satellites. Future increasing emphasis will be on SOTM (Satellite On The Move) terminals allowing link acquisition and connection in motion on ground vehicles and airborne vehicles for both military and commercial vehicles and aircraft. Size will be critical on airborne SOTM platforms so that phased array antennas will be widely utilized.
