The refers to a basic, full 53-foot trailer service that cannot include any hazardous materials. This is the growth sector of the trucking industry. Since 1980, this sector has blossomed under deregulation. Dry-van interstate accounted for for about $84 billion of the nation's total $713 billion freight bill in 2006. Again, Schneider National, J.B. Hunt and Swift are the three largest dry-van carriers, but Werner Enterprises, U.S. Xpress, CRST, Knight Transportation, and Covenant Express are other major players.
