Definition: Bunkering Tanker

A self-propelled ship designed to transport fuel oil to larger ships, acting as a mobile "gas station."  Bunkering tankers typically have a capacity of less than 20,000 barrels and are predominantly utilized to fuel ships outside of the protective boundries of a port.
