The family dining segment of the restaurant industry is characterized by sit-down restaurants that typically offer: 1) meals across the day, with a strong presence in the breakfast daypart; 2) no alcohol or a very limited focus on alcohol; 3) value-conscious menus with average prices lower than other dine-in restaurants. The largest competitors in the segment include Denny's, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Waffle House, and Friendly's. The average guest check in the segment ranges from $8-10. Typical users of the segment are adults 25-49 with average household income of $40,000-60,000 and household size of three or more. Additionally, the segment attracts a large senior as well as multi-ethnic customer base.
