Definition: Automotive Aftermarket

The automotive aftermarket is defined as all products and services purchased for a motor vehicle after the vehicle is purchased from an authorized dealership. Categories include: repair parts, replacement parts, body parts, accessories, repair services, restoration services, modification services, and tire services. The aftermarket does not include gasoline sales or convenience store retail sales. Typical aftermarket retailers include Auto Zone, Advance Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts, CSK Auto Parts (dba Checker, Schucks, Kragen, Murray’s), NAPA, CarQuest, Federated, Auto Value, Part Depot, Bumper to Bumper, Midas, Pep Boys, Sears Auto Care Centers, and many more.
