1. NIchia is very protective of it's intellectual property using legal proceeding to stall competitors from competing in key makrets such as backlighting for notebook computers, and genral purpose lighting.
2. Although some of the NIchia competitors may have violated Nichia intellectual property, in some cases Nichia has lost IP lawsuits both in the U.S. and SEA.
