From a very very high level I can see why someone would say that the web could appear to be behaving in a manner in which the Internet and the multitude of nodes and connections can be likened to the human brain.

Pushing to Bring TV to the Internet | online.wsj.com
My analysis challenges the premise of the article associated with the question of how the Cable TV industry will keep up with the trend of video streaming on the web. In so doing, it lays out an approach to investing in the creation of Library Content for the 21st Century. It also challenges entrepreneurs to see that the world of Media and Content need not be wholly controlled by the big Six Media conglomerates: Disney, Time Warner, Viacom/CBS/Paramount, Sony, Fox and Comcast/NBCUniversal. Their monopoly is primed to get taken down. It also infers that the secret to the future of all Content and its value as an investment vehicle, lays in age old tradition of compelling storytelling. Technology cannot take the lead, it can only be an exquisite partner to those who tell stories people want to see.

Pushing to Bring TV to the Internet | online.wsj.com
The article is a nice one about changes within MOVE networks and their push to mirror services available on some smaller cable networks. I wonder what tension they will face as they try and move forward? A friend told me that the internet looks a lot like the cable TV landscape of the 80's. Trying to decide what pricing models for content look like.

Describing the web as like the brain is valid up to a point. There are judgement issues, remembering and forgetting issues, and flash of insight issues. How the brain currently does this is not well understood at all.

Network Convergence: Hopes and Hurdles

Operator Strength and Weakness | tech.sina.com.cn
The State Council made a brief announcement in mid-January to begin network convergence, a topic that had floated for 15 years. The plan will take two steps. First, run trials during 2010-12 for “mutual” entry by telcos and broadcasters to “explore assurance for orderly development and policy framework.” Second, during 2013-15, expand experience from the trials to a full-blown physical convergence, the goal is to achieve a “proper competitive environment and a new efficient oversight system.”

Key infrastructure often cyberattack target: survey | www.telecomengine.com
Threats to critical infrastructures are increasing across the globe. Denial of service attacks, network intrusions, financially motivated attacks and cyber war are orchestrated by nation states (foreign nations), terrorists and organized cyber criminals. Nations across the globe have low levels of preparedness to meet cyber attacks that have devastating impact. Countermeasures must include appropriate legislation and enforcement through security governance frameworks.
