Inconceivably Short Sighted
Analysis of: The Future of the Electric Car | blogs.tnr.com
Author: GLG Expert Contributor
U.S. is too large for this plan to work. There is no allowance for profit margin. Why would the auto companies want to be involved in this mess?

US Wind Power, The Pickens Plan, and Antiquated Power Grid
Analysis of: U.S wind power strangled by antiquated power grid | www.iht.com
Author: GLG Expert Contributor
The Promise of Wind Power and the freeing up Natural Gas for internal combustion engine needs holds great promise for the US's shorter term Energy Needs.   We must not let our Antiquated Power Grid stop us from moving forward with wind and solar if we are to solve our energy problems.

U.S. LNG Export
Analysis of: Freeport LNG applies to export gas imports | www.ogj.com
Author: Timothy Nash, Managing Director, Dynagas
Do not expect USG LNG exports anytime soon. The LNG is not available from the US. The infrastructure is not available to make LNG in the US Gulf. The U.S. political winds would not permit energy exports in this market.

NOL Likely To Acquire Hapag-Lloyd
Analysis of: NOL will not pay over the odds for Hapag | www.lloydslist.com
Author: Craig Marston, Managing Director, CEM Marine
Despite the 4b Euro "minimum" price that TUI is placing on Hapag, opposition from Hamburg, and a very conservative acquisition history, NOL is very likely to be the successful bidder.

Oil Output at PEMEX: The Numbers Tell the Story
Analysis of: Pemex July oil output falls 12% as Cantarell declines | www.latinpetroleum.com
Author: GLG Expert Contributor
Mexico’s Cantarell oil field is now producing less than 1 million bpd. The decline is faster than PEMEX anticipated (who would have guessed?) and forced the company once again to lower its 2008 daily production target, this time from 2.9 million bpd to 2.8 million bpd.

Energy Fundamentals and their impact on Austrian
Analysis of: Austrian struggles to find strategic partner | uk.biz.yahoo.com
Author: GLG Expert Contributor
What we are seeing in the hypothesis stated is the results of rising energy costs.  This is important because it may herald the start of some very fundamental changes across the entire airline industry and beyond. I am more concerned about understanding the dynamics of the rising energy costs; understanding whether they are transitory.  Will they continue to rise, fall or remain static. ...

BIOMASS - the next card in the deck?
Analysis of: Sawmills Falling Silent | www.nationalpost.com
Author: Brad Franchi, President, Forest Strategies, LLC.
As the author points up - chip supplies for pulp mills are becoming hard to procure.  The next "wave" of change is the emerging (erupting?) biomass markets.  There are over 40 US mills either announced, under construction, or running.  The largest of the bio pellet plants rival pulpmills in wood consumption.  These plants are running on fuelwood - except the Cottondale, FL mill...

Analysis of: Can One Man’s Actions Take $6 Billion In Value Out Of A Minor Metal Market In A Month? | www.resourceinvestor.com
Author: Jack Lifton, Managing Director, Jack Lifton, LLC
End users of minor metals for critical purposes, i.e., for purposes that are not economically or technologically possible without a particular minor metal, can hedge the required supply of metal by financing the producer's output, through offtake agreements, for example, and by being the buyer of last resort as well as the holder of a small strategic excess inventory to use as a barrier against a...
