Overall food prices have increased or will increase by the end of the year because most products are made in one place and trucked to another for sale (plus trucked to at least 2 places in between for wareshousing). How can we not expect all food prices to rise when oil prices have been ...

The recent inflation in the USDA choice beef cutout has been mostly due to appreciation in many of the end cut sections of the carcass. This could be could good news for beef middle meat and portioned steak buyers going forward. Probably not good news for beef trimming and grinds buyers.

Appliances drive Sears.
Analysis of: Sear's Profits Fall 62% In Second Quarter | www.chicagobusiness.com
Author: John White, Executive Vice President, Appliances, Brand Source
Bottom line is Sears goes as their appliance business goes. with weakened demand and increased pressure from Lowe's and Depot there is no turnaround in sight. 5 years there will be lots of mall real estate available. Sears customers are dying and attracting new customers is not in scope with their current format.

More negative news for one of America's largest corporations. GM has been improving quality all the time. People think, "Oh, Japanese cars are better". Look at the recalls from Toyota, Nissan and Honda. They have their share of recalls. It's a shame that GM will take the brunt of this due to incompetent suppliers. As usual, they'll...

When GM is offering "employee discounts" to everyone, this seems like a terrible PR move. I mean, seriously $450K is hardly a footnote on GM's balance sheet. As a former Congressional Hill staff member, I can tell you that this will not play well when GM asks to be bailed out.

The proposed commercial alliance of British Airways, Iberia and American - lets call it BAAABI represents a strong consolidation on the most lucrative part of the Transatlantic market - UK-USA. Virgin Atlantic and its chairman have been waging a "BA-AA No Way" battle for years. Now its very intense.
