Mr. William "Bill" LaPerch

Council Member Biography

Bill LaPerch is the President and Chief Executive Officer of AboveNet, Inc., a provider of fiber optical connectivity solutions for business and carriers. He has successfully guided AboveNet through Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and has extensive experience with SOX compliance issues. He has initiated a major strategic overhaul of the company that has allowed it to assume a leadership position in its market niche. This was accomplished while navigating through legacy SEC investigations and completing several difficult past audits. In addition Mr. LaPerch has secured 100 million dollar financing round in a very difficult debt market. Prior to joining AboveNet, Mr. LaPerch served as Senior Vice President of Network Services for MCI where he managed that company's local, long distance, data, and Internet networks. He also held numerous executive-level positions in the operations and engineering areas. Previously, he held executive positions at NYNEX.
