Wayel Kaakaji, MD, is the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director at the Spinal and Neurosurgical Institute. He has expertise in the management of brain and spine tumors and movement disorder surgery such as deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease. Dr. Kaakaji has interest in surgical pain management, spinal cord stimulation, and intrathecal morphine therapy. He has expertise in the treatment of complex spine disease, including spinal fusion, instrumentation, minimally-invasive spine surgery, kyphoplasty, and treatment of osteoporotic compression fractures and of trigeminal neuralgia. Dr. Kaakaji has research interests in brain tumors, brain tumor stereotactic surgery, and vagal nerve stimulation for the treatment of epilepsy. He is a member of the North American Spine Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
