Thomas W. Brunner is Partner and Chairman of the Insurance Practice from Wiley Rein in Washington, DC, where he counsels insurance industry clients in major trial and appellate cases and has been active in coverage litigation for insurers for more than 20 years. Mr. Brunner has counseled clients on the applicability of coverage under liability, property and professional liability and insurance policies for high technology, environmental and professional liability; he specializes in emerging insurance issues such as privacy, obesity, punitive damages, Y2K, asbestos, mass tort, pharmaceutical, product liability and toxic tort claims; and represents health and property/casualty insurers in anti-fraud activities including as lead counsel for groups of health insurers in RICO actions against health care providers. He has published a number articles on insurance including “Issues Arising Under Global Insurance Programs,” Private Lawsuits Challenge Brokerage Contingency Fees,” and “Natural Disasters Pose Difficult Challenges for Insurers.” For the past decade, Mr. Brunner has also been named one of "The Best Lawyers in America" for insurance law and commercial litigation.
