Ms. Susan Abbott

Council Member Biography

Susan Abbott is an independent consultant based in Connecticut offering expert analysis and testimony for regulated electric, gas and water companies, rating agency advisory services generally, and independent research on credit and debt market issues. In addition, she also chairs and moderates various panels focused on the rating agency industry. Ms. Abbott was the Managing Director of several Rating Groups at Moody's Investors Services and spent 20 years with the firm until her departure in 2002. She has worked extensively internationally, and spent several years in Europe on behalf of Moody's. Ms. Abbott has in-depth knowledge of credit and the rating agencies, and closely follows the three major U.S. rating agencies' methodologies, rating actions and their developing worldviews. She maintains excellent relationships with numerous rating agency personnel in order to better understand the evolution of their rating methodologies. (This is me - Update Profile)
