Subir Raha

Subir Raha is the Chairman of Team Raha Ideation, an India-based consulting firm focused on strategic advisory services. Previously, Mr. Raha was the Chairman & Managing Director of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for five years. During Mr. Raha’s tenure, ONGC’s market capitalisation increased more than 10 times, and became the leader among all Public- and Private Sector Companies in India in terms of Net Worth. Mr. Raha concurrently served as Chairman of the wholly-owned subsidiary, ONGC Videsh (OVL) and was also responsible for the turnaround of the Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (MRPL) in 2003-2004. Subir led ONGC from a sectoral E&P company to become an Integrated Energy Major on global scale, and led ONGC into aggressive exploration, especially in deep waters off India, and achieved increasing production from depleted fields. Prior to ONGC, Mr. Raha earlier served as Director at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), where he had began his career as a Management Trainee in 1970. Mr. Raha has also served (1996-98) in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, on secondment as the Head of the Oil Coordination Committee (OCC), the nodal agency for planning, monitoring and control of Oil & Gas business under Administered Pricing regime.
