Steven Fishbane, MD, is Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Fishbane serves as Chief of Nephrology, Associate Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and Director of End-Stage Renal Disease Research at Winthrop-University Hospital (WUH) in Mineola, NY. He is also Medical Director of the Dialysis Network, a group of WUH-affiliated inpatient and outpatient dialysis centers. Renowned for his studies on end-stage renal disease and dialysis therapy, Dr. Fishbane is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (NKF-KDOQI), which develops guidelines for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Fishbane is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and Advances in Renal Replacement and is a reviewer for several journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.
