Steve Mott is Chief Executive Officer of BetterBuyDesign, a payments systems consultancy serving clients that range from major banks and processors to technology startups and investment capital/equity firms. Mr. Mott is a 20-year veteran of the electronic payments industry with specialization in online transactions, innovative use of debit networks, authentication and security technologies, and consumer adoption strategies. His projects with BetterBuyDesign span strategy and business development, technology assessments, project management and due diligence evaluations. Mr. Mott is a noted speaker and author in the payments space, working for planning committees and appearing in numerous banking, merchant, technology and payment-type conferences. Mr. Mott's corporate experience includes stints in Information Industry consulting at McKinsey & Co., development of Electronic Information Strategy at McGraw-Hill, designer and marketer of data communication and value-added information services at MCI International, stewardship of a financial transaction automation software company (Cognitive Systems), the first SVP-Electronic Commerce and New Ventures at MasterCard, and service as an online merchant while President of Priceline WebHouse Club. A specialist in online transacting, in 1997 he was named by Interactive Week magazine one of the "Top 25 Unsung Heroes of the Internet” and in 1998 by Business 2.0 magazine “One of the Top 25 Most Intriguing Minds for the New Economy."
