Russell Crawford is the General Manager at Diverse Construction Inc., a building constructions contractor. Previously, Mr. Crawford was an owner of Crawford Electrical Consulting which provides services to a variety of clients. He has worked on research projects for clients in the financial industry. His experience with pre-construction services and estimating led to the development of a program which calculates potential savings when using a new product developed by a large national steel producer. Mr. Crawford also assisted in the training of the sales staff to use the program. He has been a speaker at the national conventions of NAED (National Association of Electrical Distributors) and NEMRA (National Electrical Manufacutrers Representatives Association). The decline in Comex pricing has had a severe impact on demand in the final quarter of 2006 which is likely to carry over for a time in 2007.
The decline in copper pricing has put pressure on margins for distributors and manufacturers.
Price does not effect the amount of copper used in a construction project.
It you want to sell more pounds of copper, raise the price.

Demand for commercial construction projects is strong, margins increasing, and qualified labor shrinking. The demand for new construction coupled with the need to revisit existing infrastructure and make improvements linked to demand will help keep commercial construction expanding throughout 2007. Although commercial construction will eventually follow the residential construction market, the commercial markets will typically lag by up to 18 months.
