Rossana Berardi, MD, is a Researcher and Lecturer - Consultant Medical Oncologist in the Department of Medical Oncology at the Universita Politecnica delle Marche, Italy, since November 2005. She is involved in clinical research and GCP trials on the treatment of solid tumors in particular on gastrointestinal cancer and on NSCLC, and also in the clinical activities of the department. Dr. Berardi has been awarded many grants and prizes such as ASCO Travel Award in 2000 and an ASCO Merit Award in 2001. She has authored many scientific publications and several presentations at national and international meetings. Dr. Berardi was a Research Fellow in the Department of Oncology at Middlesex Hospital, University College London Hospitals. (This is me - Update Profile)

The recent positive opinion from the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the EMEA recommending to grant a marketing authorisation for Iressa in NSCLC, opens the way to another therapeutic option in advanced NSCLC.
Another good result for Roche.

Catumaxomab is a trifunctional monoclonal antibody with 2 antigen-recognition sites: one for human EpCAM, a cell surface antigen expressed by a variety of epithelial tumor cells, and one for human CD3, a T-cell surface antigen. In addition, another region of the antibody binds to receptors that are expressed on other cells of the immune system.
