Ronald Cathcart, was until April 2008, the Chief Enterprise Risk Officer for Washington Mutual, the largest thrift in the US with $300B in assets, a 2200 branch network and nationwide lending/administrative offices engaged in consumer and commercial banking services, credit cards, commercial real estate financing, and home loans. Mr. Cathcart had oversight of all aspects of risk in the organization including, credit, market, operational, compliance, regulatory and internal audit. He also reviewed and improved credit policies and analytical capabilities for the credit card division, which grew 50% following the 2005 acquisition of Providian Financial, and increased number of accounts in a highly coveted market. Mr. Cathcart built a team of 50+ credit specialists for $190B mortgage portfolio and also played a key contributing role to exiting the sub-prime market and increasing credit standards for first mortgages and home equity loans in advance of market contraction. He led realignment of the $2B small business portfolio and helped the bank achieve top market share and zero losses for a $42B commercial loan portfolio. Prior to joining WaMu in 2005, Mr. Cathcart was the EVP, Retail Risk Management for CIBC. Earlier, he served in a variety of risk management positions at Bank One from 1999 to 2002, including EVP and Chief Risk Officer of Retail. (This is me - Update Profile)
