Robyn J Barst, MD is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics (in Medicine) at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. She was Director of the New York-Presbyterian Pulmonary Hypertension Center 1982-2008. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and American College of Chest Physicians. She serves on the Board of Trustees, the Scientific Leadership Committee (past chair) and the Corporate Committee of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. Dr. Barst's basic/clinical research has focused extensively on pulmonary hypertension in children and adults. Her expertise in pulmonary hypertension has led to invitations to serve on advisory boards, councils, and committees of leading medical societies and associations, and scientific advisory boards and steering committees for pharmaceutical companies focusing on drug development for pulmonary hypertension; these appointments remain unchanged. Dr. Barst has been a Visiting Professor at medical institutions around the world and has received numerous grants and contracts for clinical research in the area of pulmonary hypertension. She has published numerous research papers in prestigious journals and books, and edited the recently released Wiley Ltd. book - Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension - Diagnosis and Evidence Based Treatment. She is the recipient of the 2008 PHA Award of Excellence in PAH Care. (This is me - Update Profile)
