Robert Housman is a Partner at BookHill Partners in Washington, DC, where he focuses on national and homeland security, international affairs, advanced technologies, and biotech. He also has extensive experience in the high-tech sector, and he has assisted companies in obtaining government contracts and grants worth nearly $1 billion total. Mr. Housman has also consulted for the National Security Council, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations Environment Programme and the American Chemistry Council. He previously ran his own firm, the Housman Group; was a Senior Vice President in Fleishman-Hillard’s government relations division; and served as Counsel to the Government Relations Section of Bracewell & Patterson. In 1997 President Clinton appointed him Assistant Director for Strategic Planning in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). In this capacity, he was a senior advisor at large to Gen. (ret.) Barry McCaffrey, the drug czar and member of the President’s Cabinet and National Security Council. He teaches homeland security and counter-terrorism for the University of Maryland, University College.
