Robert Hoover, Jr., MD, MPH, is Jurisdiction C Durable Medical Equipment Medical Director at CIGNA Government Services. In his role at CIGNA Government Services, he is responsible for coverage, coding, and documentation for durable medical equipment, orthotics and prosthetics in fee-for-service Medicare. Dr. Hoover also serves on CIGNA's commercial insurance technology assessment committee as the DME subject matter expert. He has extensive experience in market dynamics related to respiratory therapy products (oxygen, CPAP, ventilators, nebulizers, and inhalation drugs); seating and mobility products (wheelchairs, scooters); wound care (KCI VAC, dressings); and others. Dr. Hoover is knowledgeable on the impact of legislative and regulatory changes in Medicare and other third party payers. Prior to rejoining CIGNA, he was Chief Medical Officer with DeVilbiss Healthcare, a division of Sunrise Medical, one of the world's largest manufacturers of homecare and extended care products.
