Robert Hinkel is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Elang Energy, a two-year old start-up exploration and production company with operations in the Asia-Pacific region, South America and US. Previously, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Enventure Global Technology, a Shell-Halliburton joint venture company specializing in the commercialization of Shell drilling technologies. Prior to that, he has worked for Unocal in positions of increasing responsibility starting in drilling engineering and leading to management positions including SVP of the company's second largest E&P Business Unit and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Unocal's mining subsidiary (Molycorp). His other senior management positions included global GM of procurement and logistics. He holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering (Magna cum Laude) from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in International Management with an MBA from Thunderbird University in Phoenix, Arizona.
