Mr. Robert Dunbar

Council Member Biography

Robert Dunbar is the President of Strategy West, a Calgary based consulting firm that specializes in helping its clients make effective energy industry strategic decisions. Mr. Dunbar provides consulting on Canadian oil sands industry including business and technical issues and training. He has more than 40 years of Canadian and international energy industry experience including more than 10 years as an energy industry consultant. He reactivated his consulting practice in January 2005 after spending two years with the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) as Senior Director of Research. While at CERI, Mr. Dunbar led the completion of several studies including CERI's Oil Sands Supply Outlook, released in March 2004. He has also worked for Petro-Canada from 1980 to 1992 in senior management positions related to strategic planning, gas planning, and project development. Prior, he worked for the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board for 10 years. Mr. Dunbar has also worked for Shell Canada for four years. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from California Institute of Technology. Mr. Dunbar has completed the Canadian Securities Course and is a registered Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta. (This is me - Update Profile)
