Dr. Richard Banks

Council Member Biography

Richard Banks is a Founding Member & Director at Poseidon. Mr. Banks specializes in economic evaluations and sector reviews of the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Richard has worked on over 60 countries in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and all of Europe. He has a good knowledge of industry systems and financial forecasting from production to marketing. Special commodity areas include pelagic fisheries (tuna, mackerel, herring and feed fish fisheries, demersal and benthic stocks, shrimp, cage culture fish and seaweed). He has a unique combination of institutional experience having worked as fisheries economist for national Government; then as Chief Executive of a national fishermen's organisaion. Richard has been a consultant for the last 12 years. Richard has a Masters in Agricultural Economics (London University) and a Bachelors degree in Economics (University of Portsmouth).
